Taras Boichuk

Taras Boichuk is a clinical psychologist, trauma therapist, veteran, EMDR and Brainspotting specialist, and consultant with experience in MHPSS, support for military personnel and their families, crisis assistance, rehabilitation, and PTSD prevention.

“For me, psychology is a way to restore dignity, hope and inner strength even in the darkest times”.

I work with:

  • adults (military personnel, war veterans, civilians, and helping professionals);
  • adolescents and children;
  • families (military, displaced, crisis).

My journey in psychology began with Jungian and Lacanian psychoanalysis, but helping those who have experienced traumatic events became my true calling.

My own experience of war and service in the 92nd Brigade, as well as long-term participation in humanitarian projects, gave me a deeper understanding of the human psyche in conditions of stress, loss and struggle. And right now, our entire country is in exactly that state.

I have a degree in psychology, cultural studies, clinical psychology and psychotherapy (currently studying), and have undergone specialised training in Ukraine and studied with specialists from the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands and Israel.

I am certified in EMDR (also internationally), Brainspotting (also for children), IMTT, Rewind, TF-ACT, trauma-focused CBT, biosuggestive therapy, Teddy Bear Therapy (toy therapy for kids), Mindfulness, and more.

I regularly participate in supervision and intervision sessions with specialists who work with people affected by war and with the military.

I work with the following issues:

  • PTSD and complex trauma;
  • effects of combat, loss, captivity, and injury;
  • anxiety disorders, panic attacks, depression, apathy;
  • ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorders, OCD;
  • crisis states, acute stress reactions;
  • emotional and physical exhaustion;
  • couple and parent-child relationships;
  • issues of identity, motivation and resourcefulness;
  • consequences of sexualised violence and bullying.

My experience:

I worked in humanitarian organisations (Right to Protection, Red Cross); provided assistance to military personnel at the ReStart UA veterans centre (Kharkiv), the Roscha Clinical Sanatorium rehabilitation centre; and collaborated with state health institutions, local communities and international organisations. I offer MHPSS, PSEA, child protection, Eight Step Recovery programmes, including via private counselling.

I value an individual approach, safety, respect, and stability in the therapeutic space.

My family, daughter, colleagues, friends, weightlifting, nature, world culture, and silence are the things that keep me going.
