Sun in the Palms

Targeted psychosocial support and soft adaptation for IDPs and wives of military personnel.

Ukraine · IDPs — adults and children · families of defenders · mutual aid groups

About the project

"The Sun in the Palms" is a project of targeted psychosocial support and soft adaptation for internally displaced persons (IDPs) - adults and children, as well as wives of military personnel who are waiting for the return of their husbands. The initiative is aimed at overcoming the consequences of psychological trauma during martial law and in the post-war period.

The project became a platform for creating a safe women’s community, where participants with similar life experiences could share experiences, mutually strengthen each other and find internal resources to overcome crisis situations.

The goal of the project is to create a safe, trusting space of mutual help and empathy, which prevents social self-isolation and alienation of vulnerable categories of the population.

Also, the project aimed to reduce the level of psycho-emotional tension in the families of defenders and IDPs, to restore to the participants a sense of the coherence of life (its comprehensibility, manageability and awareness), to teach practical stabilization tools and restore faith in the future.
