Webinar “Toxic Models in the Family: What Children Sense from Adult Relationships”

Children grow up not only in a caring environment.
They are also influenced by how adults treat each other.
Even without shouting and open conflicts, children still sense tension, alienation, fear and resentment, and they draw conclusions about themselves, other people and relationships.
We invite parents, caregivers and specialists who work with children to a webinar “Toxic Models in the Family: What Children Sense from Adult Relationships”.

Host: Maria Ilienko, psychologist, clinical psychologist in training

You will learn:
how conflicts between adults affect a child’s psyche;
what an emotionally unsafe environment is;
why the phrase “we don’t argue in front of the child” often doesn’t work.
The webinar will help you understand what signals are unconsciously conveyed to children and how this shapes their future perception of intimacy and behaviour in relationships.
The event is part of UNICEF’s Hugs For You project, financed by the European Union.

Masterclass “I’m Not Like the Others – And That’s My Superpower”

The world is full of patterns, but we are all different. Not everyone can “fit in” and “do what is expected”.
And what should those “others” who feel more and see deeper do? These are people with superpowers, which sometimes forces them to doubt themselves.
We invite children and teenagers aged 10-14 to a masterclass “I’m Not Like the Others – And That’s My Superpower”
The participants will

💛 understand where the feeling of “I’m not like that” comes from;
🩵 learn to distinguish true uniqueness from the imposed societal expectations;
💛 find their own strengths;
🩵 figure out how to rely on themselves, even when it’s scary;
💛 boost their confidence;
🩵 receive practical life hacks for courage (how to act when confidence is “not there yet”; how to stop waiting for permission from others; how to support yourself when your inner critic is louder than your faith).

Webinar Psychiatry: Scarier Not to Ask for Help

When ignorance becomes a barrier – and knowledge becomes salvation.
Psychiatrist. Does this word still make you uneasy? Thousands of people put off visiting one for years. Not because they don’t need help, but because they are afraid – afraid of judgement, of a diagnosis, of what they don’t understand.
But what if we could dispel these fears? What if you discovered that psychiatry is not about “crazy people” but about real people like us? About children overwhelmed by anxiety. About adults worn down by war. About parents quietly searching for answers.
On 6 March at 6 p.m., two experienced psychiatrists will speak about what usually remains unspoken – honestly, clearly, without intimidating terms or judgement.

BLOCK 1: Child Psychiatry
The biggest fear of parents is “what if something is wrong with my child?”.
And the next one is “what will people say?”.
We often reassure ourselves: it’s just a phase, it will pass, it’s personality. But sometimes behind withdrawal, tantrums, sleep problems or learning difficulties there isn’t just “a phase”, but a child who needs help. And the earlier we notice it, the more we can change the future.
Host: Yuriy Stratovich, senior child psychiatrist.
You will learn:
– when it’s time to consult a child psychiatrist;
– how to recognise warning signs;
– what psychoeducation is about and why knowledge empowers action;
– why early diagnosis is a window of opportunity;
– how to overcome stigma and seek help without shame.
BLOCK 2: Adult Psychiatry

We are used to holding on, working, being “strong” – even when everything inside feels like it is falling apart.
War, loss, chronic stress — the mind is not made of steel. If sleep disappears, anxiety becomes the background of everyday life, and joy feels like a distant memory – this is an important signal.
Host: Svitlana Iliashenko, psychiatrist and CBT psychotherapist in training.
You will learn:
– why mental disorders have become more common and how stress changes brain function;
– how telemedicine helps overcome the fear of seeking help;
– why self-medication can make things worse.
